Turkmenistan Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov said on Friday that an international conference on Turkmenistan’s neutral policy will be held in Islamabad on March 15.

During a meeting with top officials of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), the ambassador discussed matters pertaining to educational cooperation between IIUI and International University for Development of Turkmenistan, said a press release.

The ambassador said the conference was being organised by the Turkmenistan embassy in collaboration with the Society of Civilizations to mark the 20th anniversary of “Turkmen Policy of Permanent Neutrality”.

The policy was announced by President of Turkmenistan in 1995 on the occasion of Economic Cooperation Organisation summit in Islamabad.

”Pakistan was the co-sponsor of the resolution at the UN when this policy was endorsed unanimously,” he said.

He sought IIUI support in organising the conference in which the International University of Humanity and Development of Turkmenistan is also participating.

He said the conference will give an opportunity to both universities to come closer.

IIUI officials assured the ambassador of full support and cooperation in organising the conference.
