ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said on Wednesday Pakistan wanted meaningful and result-oriented dialogue with India for resolution of all outstanding issues, Radio Pakistan reported.
Aziz told the National Assembly during question hour that the onus of resuming dialogue lies with India. He said the neighboring country had unnecessarily suspended dialogue because of the High Commissioner's meeting with Kashmir leaders in New Delhi.
Aziz, asserted that dialogue with India must include the Kashmir issue, otherwise it would be futile.
The adviser on foreign affairs also said there are reports that US President Barack Obama, during his visit to India, tried to persuade New Delhi to resume dialogue with Islamabad.
"However, we have not yet received any indication from the other side in this regard," Aziz added.
He said the negative propaganda about the Line of Control is indicative of Indian intransigence and reluctance to the resume dialogue.
Aziz added that Pakistan is working with other countries to press India for talks, as uninterrupted dialogue is necessary for regional peace, stability and development.
Speaking about the country's relations with Afghanistan, Aziz said they were on an "upward trajectory" and this is a new phase in relations with the two countries.

@qaisar: there may be more comments from indian side because of infiltration. we ill try to control it. let us change the topic to films. Sholay is being released in Karachi in I MAX thanks to Salim Mandviwala, Any one in Pakistan has seen I the movie by Shankar, Hero is Vikram, Amy Jackson, picturised in China, It may interest Pakistanis, The story is of a weightlifter who dreams to become Arnold Schwarzneger,
Aziz is suffering from Alzheimer. Happens in his age. He keeps forgetting that he already had said this million times.
Pakistan must understand that talks will take place on India's terms and conditions. India is not shy on discussing Kashmir problem but wants Pakistan to abandon its decades old policy of cross-border terrorism first as the same is unacceptable not only to India but even the rest of the world including United Nations. Even the all weather friend of Pakistan supports India on issue of Pak sponsored terrorism against its neighbours which is amply proved during the recent India's FM visit to China, causing great embarrassment to Pakistan. US has already signed an agreement with India to fight terrorism emanating from Pakistan which leaves the latter with no support from any quarter including its claim of being the victim of terrorism until it practices zero tolerance to all forms of terrorism.
Meaningful dialogues with India are only possible if provided that Pakistan accepts India's terms and conditions for dialogues and withdraw its stance from Kashmir because only on Kashmir's issue India never wants to talk to Pakistan because falsely India considers Kashmir its integral part.....
@qaisar, yes absolutely. Pakistani news, especially ET, is very entertaining. Indian news is boring. This is my favorite news website.
What is there to talk about Kashmir ..when 70 % of Kashmiris voted ..so it is quite apparent that there is no point Pak should even tak bout Kashmir ..better look at ur own problems
ET: " PML-N not even competent enough to rig polls properly: Imran" +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Why should India conduct any talks with the Govt run by such an incompetent Party?
It's tough to have meaningful talks with the elected leaders of Pakistan -- they don't control foreign policy. Suggest you fix that.
What's he sayin..?? US prez said nothing of that sort ..to India about resuming any dialogue with u guys.. in fact he asked the Pakistanis to work on 26/11 issues...
@qaisar: The regulars on ET ARE PAID by the proxies of BJP, Shiv Sena, RSS. Most originate from call centers of Poona/Madras. And Bombay. Some have admitted this on ET. Others are bored by their coding jobs and troll ET.
It is sure true that India and Pakistan are like two tires of the same bicycle. You cannot move further without the coordinating. Keeping all the hatred aside, The world needs love, peace and unity not hatred. We are neighbors, we are alike, we are the same and share almost the same language. At least the youth should speak up and step forward towards the restoring the peace, sure there exist greed, prude and our flaws but ignoring the shortcomings and discrimination we should find a common ground cuz together we can make it to the end.
@qaisar: No seriously there is not a better platform than this one to express our views and give some fruitful advices to you ...
Mr. Adviser for foreign affairs and security. Your government cannot provide a workable foreign policy or security policy. So how about a senior citizen moment and staying quiet for a while? At least that would not invoke the ridicule of Pakistani citizens or of other countries. You do have a winning smile though. We can afford to miss it.
I think that only job Mr. Aziz has right now is to issue statements about dialogue with India. I don't hear anything else from him or may be ET does not find anything else important enough ,coming out of his mouth.
@qaisar: Come on guys! is India getting so damn boring for you that you have nothing else to do other then commenting online?
We are growing at 7%; and in our spare time we take up positions on the border to keep your terrorists and terrorism out of our country. Dont you get it ? Using the same methods/tactics again and again, and hoping for a different result ?
First you were halved, now you will be quartered...
India does not want talks with Pakistan - at least not with the politicians. It is a waste of time.
Pakistan wants a lot of things but life isn't that fair, isn't it?
We should talk about pak occupied kashmir and parts ceded to China. wanted a united jammu and kashmir.with a strong economy and a world class infrastructure. There is nothing to talk more.Pakistan cannot manage it's land mass, what it will do with kashmir.
Apart from the subject, one thing which is really funny that I believe lots of Indians take it as a job to wait for anything pop up on ET and they crack their fingers to start commenting on it.
Come on guys! is India getting so damn boring for you that you have nothing else to do other then commenting online? or you are getting paid for that? No seriously, it is ridiculous dudes.
Let me translate what Mr. Sartaj Aziz is trying to say: 1. We want dialogue with you 2. The dialogue must be result oriented 3. The dialogue must include Kashmir Ergo: the dialogue must produce result for Kashmir 4. The only result we want for Kashmir is implementation of UN resolution 5. You don't want that (resolution non-binding, superseded by Simla Agreement, blah blah) Ergo: We don't want dialogue with you!
First, this guy needs to go. Please retire.
@Prakash: but the monologue of Mr. Sartaj Aziz has started to get boring!
What can poor Mr Aziz do ? He is merely following orders from COAS cum Defense Minister cum Foreign Minister cum Interior Minister cum Trade Minister cum Sports Minister and so on...
I am 400% for meaningful and result-oriented dialogue with Pakistan for the return of the portion of Jammu & Kashmir, including Baltistan, occupied by Pakistan and ceded by Pakistan to P.R. China after Pakistan takes proven, public, punitive and permanent action against terrorists and terrorist organisations, including those claimed to be Clerics, Charitable Organisations with or without changed names and Criminals like Hafiz Saeed, Jamaat Ud Dawa and Dawood Ibrahim, that have targeted India.
I don't know if there will be a dialogue or not, but the monologue of Mr. Sartaj Aziz has started to get boring!
When this senior citizen is retiring? These old folks can neither solve issues nor can show any positivity in their resolution to solve the issues.
Now talks will happen on India's terms. So first Stop exporting terrorists into India and then stop talking to Hurriyat just before the talks to needle India.
Sartaz Aziz asserted that dialogue with India must include the Kashmir issue, otherwise it would be futile
Exactly my point - dialogue is not needed - you go your way, we will go on ours. India gains nothing by dialogue; Pakistan has nothing (except POK) that is of any interest to us. Why should we waste our time on you ?
You are more than welcome to stew in your own juice...
What is the definition of "meaningful dialogue" Mr. Aziz? If it means talking to Huriyyat before talking to Indian government, then rest assured you will only have a monologue and not a dialogue.
Pakistan is ill prepared to handle the Kashmir tsunami that is about to beat down. In a nutshell, talks will be held shortly, but will mostly be about a timeline to withdraw all Pakistani Forces and personnel from POK and Gilgit/Baltistan. No Musharraf formula, no plebiscite, nothing.
