QUETTA:
Balochistan National Party (BNP)’s Union Council chairman was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Gwadar on Tuesday. According to police officials, the assailants on motorcycle opened fire at the newly elected chairman Union Council Chib Kalmati and escaped unchallenged from the scene. As result of firing, he sustained bullet injuries. Rescue workers and police reached the site after the incident and transported the injured to a state-run hospital in Gwadar. He was critically injured and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital after a few hours. Targeted killings in the port city have increased in the past couple of weeks during which an educationist and head of private school, a Quetta Electric Supply Corporation (Qesco) official and others have been targeted.
