Allegedly retaliating to government's decision to hang terror convicts, the miscreants - riding motorbikes – threatened the residents and school staff early morning.
The assailants also left a threat letter before escaping from the scene.
No casualties were reported as schoolchildren were not present at the institution.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Rabita Committee condemned the grenade attack and criticised the government for failing to take effective security measures in the city.
Police and Rangers were also deployed in the area soon after the incident and Director-General (DG) Rangers Bilal Akbar also visited the site of the attack.
Further, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah took notice of the incident and sought a report from the inspector general in this regard.
Meanwhile, three people were also injured in a grenade attack in Karachi’s SITE area.
Police cordoned off the area soon after the attack that essentially targeted Rangers.

@I am a Khan: always in denial mode... no wonder Pak is in a mess !
Express Channel reported today that the policemen that were posted at the school immediately flew the school once the senior officers finished their visit. Karachi Police is brimming over with people from interior Sinned province who have come to Karachi for the only goal of looting the people and this city they have no interest or intention of safeguarding them. Secondly most of these policemen are deployed to protect the Wadera Corruption Party thugs and other criminals.
MQM behind this for sure. They are doing their best to destabilise Karachi.
We must fight terrorism IDEOLOGICALLY! That is extremely important. To fight terrorism ideologically. Our TV channels need to to show programmes which specialize in refuting terrorism and terrorist ideologies. The ONLY way to do this is to recruit Salafis from Saudi Arabia. These people are able to refute terrorism authentically from the Qur'an and Hadeeth. If we are able to employ the same methods the Saudi Arabians are employing, then we can eradicate 90% of terrorism from the face of Pakistan. Its all about refuting the ideology.
To start off, we MUST ban all the books of Sayyid Qutb and his followers. All those people who have branched off from the sect Sayyid Qutb founded MUST be banned.
I have an appeal to all Pakistanis, that you should read from this website and spread it as much as you can, this website is a professional refutation of terrorist ideologies: http://www.islamagainstextremism.com/
@I am a Khan: Clearly foreigners since even educated Pakistanis do not have such perfect English. I speak English as my first language and no matter how educated a Pakistani, there are always subtle mistakes when it isn't one's mother tongue. It's odd to note that the grammar and wording is in perfect English. Goes to show that the cowards who commit such acts have direct foreign influence and no doubt funding. The army has showed that many of them are Uzbeks, Arabs, Chechens and other foreigners working for anti state agencies. These cowards must be really afraid that they have to be proactive in scaring unarmed kids at schools! Shows that security forces are giving the coward terrorists the justice they deserve. Hopefully the security forces gives the cowards who posted this notice speedy treatment!
@AVMPolpot: this isn't someething to joke about it could've happened to, God forbid, your school or someone very close to you. Please think before speaking, or in this case commenting.
The terrorists and their supporters have lost the majority of their sympathizers. The façade of “hiding behind religious edicts” has been exposed. Senseless killings of innocents cannot be justified to anyone with an iota of sense. The enemy is left frustrated; with very little support and so they are hitting back at soft targets. The attack on the place of worship in Shikarpur and today’s attack on School in Karachi come from an enemy with the same vicious and evil mindset. We are glad that there were no casualties in this attack, and that is all the more reason to be vigilant and prepared for this evil enemy, who would stoop so low as to hurt our children. The terrorists should know that we stand united against them and we will not leave any stone unturned to defeat their malicious agenda of death and destruction.
Abdul Quddus DET - U.S. Central Command
can u plz name the school.which school?
@I am a Khan:
These were private English-medium schools with high fees, so their students are mostly middle-class or upper middle-class schools. The warning being in English could mean that it was addressed to the schoolchildren, not just the media. Absolutely sickening. Now stop waving the foreign-hand card if you have an ounce of human decency.
@Troubled: Please come out of Bollywood world into the real world. The educated English speaking Pakistanis are not into extremism or terrorism. How many Pakistanis can write such perfect English as written in this warning? Maximum 1 to 2% and those 1 to 2% are doing top jobs in Pakistan or abroad, they are not into this. If this warning was in Urdu, Punjabi or Pashto, I could believe the attackers to be Pakistanis. But this warning letter in perfect english itself screams that the people behind it are foreigners. Its time for the ISI to monitor the movement/activities of all foreigners (including westerners) in Pakistan rather than putting all efforts in NWFP and FATA.
@I am a Khan: I agree with you. Not any aira ghaira nathuu ghaira ungraizee here.
@I am a Khan: Please stop being blind. A lot of Pakistanis study abroad. A lot of Pakistanis are educated. Some of these become terrorists. America and Israel funding is not required. Evil is your neighbor, but you are so blind that you are looking for it a thousand miles away. These animals are our Muslim countrymen.
" Karachi school comes under grenade attack" ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Another group of students on way to China and parents to Umrah.
The English is Perfect. Shows that these terrorists are Foreign (most probably American or Israeli Funded). If they were locals, their warning would have been in Urdu or Pashto or Punjabi.
The English, correct use of grammar, punctuations and story-boarding tells you alot
@Shocked Father: Because there are ministers who get elected from protect criminals and banned organisation.
They sure know english well. Proper punctuation and grammar i tell you.
Took notice.... World's most pointless use of effort.
Why does media has to announce how many terrorist are being hanged? Why not do it in silence? Media is more to be blamed than government!
The Baba is good at good at asking for a report which he has, Now let him go in hibernation, This man with his corrupt cabinet is a curse,
Protecting the CM house is far more important.
The line between good and evil is getting clearer day by day. High time to root out the terrorists and their sympathizers without the rhetoric of what happened in the past. 10 years and 50,000 Pakistanis later there shouldn't be any confusion who are enemy is.
