A Hindu doctor kidnapped in December was released by his captors in the Hazarganji neighbourhood of the city on Sunday. Dr Manoj Kumar was kidnapped from Algilani Road of Quetta on December 2, 2014, according to SSP (Operations) Aetizaz Goraya. His captors freed him after receiving a huge ransom from the family. According to family sources, Dr Kumar was released at an unfrequented place in Hazarganji. Initially, the captors had demanded Rs50 million for the release of Dr Kumar. “Later, they brought down their demand to Rs30 million. However, in the end the family paid around Rs15 million,” sources added. Dr Kumar told the media that he was not given proper food in captivity and was repeatedly beaten up by his captors.
