Swat Traders Federation, civil society members and political parties unanimously ‘rejected’ the provincial government’s decision of appointing Kifayatullah Khan to the post.
Swat Traders Federation (STF) President Abdul Rahim Khan said Kifayatullah previously served as Swat’s extra assistant commissioner around 22 years back and was “involved in immoral activities”.
“He was transferred after protests against him,” Abdul Rahim claimed. He added the government will have to bow down to the demands of the locals who disapprove of his conduct, urging Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to revoke the decision.
Meanwhile, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party’s (PkMAP) Provincial Deputy Secretary Dr Khalid Mahmood alleged Kifayatullah is known for nepotism. “How can we let a man of such character return to the valley?” he questioned. Mahmood added such unpopular decisions will only add to the miseries of the K-P government which has failed at delivering. “The appointment is unacceptable. We will go on strike if the orders are not retracted.”
