Jatt disqualified for fake degree

Express April 22, 2010

LAHORE: Lahore High Court's Election Tribunal rejected on Thursday the nomination papers of People's Party candidate Nazir Jatt from NA-167 Vehari.

He was disqualified from contesting the by-polls. Jatt was a member of the National Assembly but resigned after being found with a bogus educational degree.

He was now preparing to contest by-polls for the seat he held earlier.

The tribunal has disqualified another people's party candidate Allah Wasaya from PP-259 Muzaffar Garh on similar grounds.

Earlier this week Rana Mubashar of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz resigned from his Punjab Assembly seat for allegedly possessing a fake degree.

Without a democratic party, there can never be a proper and pure democracy in Pakistan, only an Autocratic rule and one man show.
