Karachi-Lahore motorway: Project to be completed in 3 years

The total cost of Karachi-Lahore Motorway is about Rs700 billion

ISLAMABAD: With the construction of Sukkur-Multan section of Karachi-Lahore Motorway, the Sindh province will be brought into the national mainstream and with the completion of the motorway, the quality of life of people of the area will improve. According to an official of the National Highway Authority, the cost of the Sukkur-Multan section is estimated at Rs200 billion whereas the total cost of Karachi-Lahore Motorway is about Rs700 billion. He said the total length of Sukkur-Multan section will be 375 kilometres, of which 260 km will fall in Punjab and 115 km in Sindh. The project has been designed keeping in view the guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Act 2014 and will be completed in 36 months. According to the official, safety issues have been dealt with thoroughly while designing the project and people will face least trouble during the construction work.
