PESHAWAR. Senior politician and the first ever female parliamentarian and minister from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Begum Kulsoom Saifullah Khan died after prolonged illness in Islamabad on Monday evening. She was around 91. The namaz-i-janaza of Begum Kulsoom Saifullah Khan will be offered at Karnal Sher Stadium on Tuesday at 3.00 p.m. She will be later laid to rest in family graveyard at Peshawar. Born on December 24, 1924, Begum Kulsoom was daughter of late Ali Quli Khan Khattak. She was sister of late Aslam Khattak, Yousaf Khattak, Ayaz Khan Khattak and Gen. (Retd) Habibullah Khattak. Begum Kulsoom was mother of Humayoon Saifullah, Anwar Saifullah, Salim Saifullah, Dr Iqbal Saifullah and Javed Saifullah Khan. An active worker, a participant in the Pakistan Independence Movement and a founding member of the All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) since 1947, Begum Kulsoom served as an advisor to the founder of APWA Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan till 1951.
