Iman Ali: the hook in Mah-e-Meer

Film is based on the life and works of Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir

Model-turned-actor Iman Ali is all set to grace the silver screen later this year with the soon- to- be released movie, Mah-e-Meer.

The movie, which is based on the life and works of Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir, also stars film and television actor Fahad Mustafa, Sanam Saeed, Ala Khan and Mazhar Sehbai.

Iman who made her film debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s post-9/11 drama Khuda Kay Liye, is a renowned face in the Pakistani fashion industry and has also modeled for Indian fashion designers such as Manish Malhotra, JJ Wahlia and Suneet Varma.

Anjum Shehzad the director of the film told Roznama Express that he had decided to cast Iman for the role of Mehtab in the upcoming movie after seeing her essay the role of the courtesan effortlessly in the 2011 movie Bol.

Shehzad described Iman’s performance in Mah-e-Meer as one to watch out for, stating, “She has delivered a memorable performance. This will be a landmark film in her career, a movie which shall be appreciated by cinemagoers.”

Mah-e-Meer, which has been produced by Khurram Rana, Sahir Rasheed and Badar Ikram, follows the struggle of a contemporary poet and draws parallels with events in Mir’s life.

Iman was previously in the news for her rumored relationship and breakup with Bollywood director and screenwriter Imtiaz Ali.

The first trailer for the movie was released in mid-2014 and a release date for the movie is expected to be announced soon.

Bravo! Iman Ali always chooses the right roles which are meaningful and have depth to them. I'm excited for the release of Mah-e-Meer.
