Illegal connections in e-1: IHC restrains gas, power companies
The court ordered authorities to stop providing connections without an NOC.
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court on Friday restrained SNGPL and Iesco from issuing meters to ‘illegal’ high rise building without an NOC from the Capital Development Authority. Justice Athar Minallah issued the directions while hearing a petition against high-rise buildings in Sector E-11 filed by a resident. The petitioner’s counsel informed the court around five high rise buildings were under construction in residential areas of E-11 which is a violation of CDA bylaws. The counsel said the violators were provided gas and electricity connections by authorities. The court ordered authorities to stop providing connections without an NOC. Justice Minallah observed that the construction of high rise building is not possible without involvement of CDA officials and asked the authority’s chairman to look into the matter. CDA Chairman Maroof Azfal assured the court that strict action would be taken against officers who violated the authority’s bylaws.
