Doubles category: Aisam, Zimonjic advance into third round

KARACHI:

Eighth seeds Aisamul Haq Qureshi and Nenad Zimonjic cruised into the third round as they defeated Pablo Carreno Busta and Guillermo Garcia Lopez 2-0 in their men’s doubles match.

Aisam and Zimonjic faced tough competition from their unseeded opponents in the first set.

With 13 unforced errors and 11 winners, they took the first set 7-6 after winning a tie-break 11-9 in 54 minutes.

The Spanish pair did not make things easy for Aisam and Zimonjic in the second set either, which lasted for 49 minutes.

However, with big serves and seven aces, Aisam and Zimonjic won the second set 6-4 and booked their place in the third round of the Grand Slam.
