Balochistan turmoil: Graveyards outnumber uplift projects

QUETTA: The chief of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) Sardar Akhtar Mengal has said that he sees no ray of hope of betterment in Balochistan in near future. “The number of graveyards is increasing more than the so-called government development projects in Balochistan,” he said. The disgruntled Baloch nationalist leader said the voices of dissent were being suppressed with targeted killings of journalists and sanctions on the media. “How will they tolerate politicians’ point of views, if they cannot tolerate the writings of journalists?” Mengal made these remarks during the launching ceremony of senior journalist Siddiq Baluch’s book “Balochistan, its Politics and Economics” at Quetta Press Club on Wednesday. “The book says everything about Balochistan and its issues,” he said.
