Another surprise: Govt keeps petrol, diesel prices unchanged

The government has announced that the prices of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) will remain unchanged for the next fortnight.

As per a notification from the Finance Division, the prices of petrol will stay at Rs248.38 per litre, and HSD will continue at Rs255.14 per litre, effective from November 16, 2024.

Earlier, reports had suggested the government might raise fuel prices by up to Rs6 per litre. In the last review, petrol's price was reduced by Rs1.35, while HSD saw an increase of Rs3.85

According to Express News, the prices of petroleum products were expected to rise by up to Rs6 per liter for the next 15 days.

The price of petrol was projected to increase by Rs2.50 per litre while high-speed diesel (HSD) wasi said to see a rise of Rs5.91 per litre.

Additionally, kerosene oil was expected to become Rs5.54 per litre more expensive and light diesel oil (LDO) was said to increase by Rs5.90 per litre.

Sources also mentioned that oil companies had submitted their price calculations to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.
