Talking to LCCI President Ijaz A Mumtaz at the Governor’s House, he said the government was committed to making all-out efforts to overcome the economic ills in the country.
He also informed the LCCI president regarding his initiatives on providing clean and safe drinking water to government school children in Punjab.
“Availability of clean drinking water has become a serious issue in recent years due to the contamination of life threatening biological, chemical and dissolved solids,” he said, adding that it is Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s vision to provide education and necessary facilities to children in government schools.
Mumtaz stressed on the need to make target oriented efforts to attract much-needed foreign investment in the country.
“Foreign investment in the power sector would help the government in getting rid of the ongoing energy crisis that has jolted the industrial sector,” said Mumtaz.
Identifying institutional fragility and political instability as major factors preventing foreign investment, he stressed on promoting economic vitality by strengthening the private sector.
Mumtaz was of the view that in order to attract investment in Pakistan, the government should adopt prudent measures and a new policy approach by involving chambers in its discussions.
