Misinformed Shiv Sena attacks SRK yet again

Shiv Sena attacked Khan for agreeing to perform for a Pakistani TV channel on 2nd anniversary of the Mumbai attacks.

MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena on Friday attacked Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for agreeing to perform at a function for a Pakistani TV channel on the second anniversary of the Mumbai attacks.

However, the actor's office said there was no truth in the allegation and that he was in Berlin shooting for Don 2.

In a sharp editorial in its party mouthpiece Saamna, the Sena said Khan lived in India, worked in Mumbai, constructed a palace (Mannat Bungalow in Bandra) in Mumbai but agreed to do a song-and-dance for a Pakistani TV channel in London, ostensibly to help the victims of the recent floods there.

"This (anniversary) is becoming an occasion to celebrate, instead of remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs and the innocent victims of the terror attacks and paying them homage," the editorial said.

However, a source in Shah Rukh's office said: "Shah Rukh is very much in Berlin. He's shooting for Farhan Akhtar's Don 2. He's not going anywhere. There is no truth in the Saamna story."

Earlier, in October the Shiv Sena had, in the same newspaper, called for a burqa ban in India.

Cherish Raj | 14 years ago | Reply Sometimes, I wish that the partition was done so clinically, with all the Muslims in India migrating to Pakistan and all the Hindus in Pakistan migrating to India, then we could have fought this battle without the stinky undertone of Hindu Muslim rivalry. We could have fought with each other like the Arabs and the Israelis. At least, they are not hypocrites like us. Here, Shahrukh Khan, who has brought India so much fame and glory is dragged into this mess and the collective psyche of the Indian nation feels guilty because he has to prove his 'patriotism'.

But, those who are comparing it with variety of extremist outfits in Pakistan, I want to point out Shiv Sena doesn't go and blow themselves up in public places. They practice "mob politics" similar to what MQM practices. @SharifL, Nobody loses if a few Pakistanis are denied Visa. US and UK grant Pakistanis visa but thugs like Faisal guy and that crazy lady enter US. India is right next to Pakistan. The dangers of Terrorists and Islamic lunatics entering India are much higher. I support good relations with a stable, friendly Pakistan. But, not easing the visa regime. Pak government is representative of the people of Pakistan. They have supported and trained these groups which attacked Mumbai. Now, that they have acquired independent capabilities how can it wash its hands off them? The logical reasoning would be the people who created them should destroy them or they must be responsible for the mayhem these groups create.

sohaib | 14 years ago | Reply 26/11? As if there has never been a terrorist attack in India. US has 9/11, England had 7/7 and India 26/11. Now that gives India something to identify with the western world. If Indians claim this was done by Pakistan, then Indians must know there are some Indian terrorist in Pakistan jails who orchestrated terror attacks in the country.

Even your government has accepted that Ajmal Kasab is a Pakistani. The fact of the matter is that we all know that 10 Pakistanis came on a boat and butchered 166 innocent people in Mumbai on 26/11 and this is something we will neither forget nor forgive. As per the revelations made by 'David Coleman Headly', the American double agent and the Lashkar operative, even the Pakistani army and the ISI officers were involved in that carnage. It clearly means the state of Pakistan was involved in 26/11. Isn't it? Its high time, my friend, when Pakistan abandoned the path of terrorism and maintained good and healthy relations with India. We can resolve all issues through peaceful negotiations but we won't tolerate another 26/11. Period

I hear that India does not give visas even to UK citizens if they were born in Pakistan. That is called mass hysteria. I condemn these attacks. But also condemn those who blame all Pakistanis.

Naturally this new province needs to be given independence from both India and Pakistan and proper border controls and fencing needs to be in place

Sapan Kapoor | 14 years ago | Reply If Shahrukh Khan had indeed agreed to do a show on 26/11 for a Pakistani channel then whatever Shivesena has said is justified. 26/11 is a very emotional moment for us Indians and we won't allow anybody to play with our emotions. Shahrukh Khan should also show some sensitivity to his own people. Its not a moment to celebrate, Mr.Shahrukh Khan. Don't forget you are an Indian first. However I don't agree with Shivsena on other issues like Burka Ban and all but when it comes to 26/11 and terrorism; Shivsena echos what an ordinary Indian feel in his/her heart.
