Imran’s new wife, Reham, 41, said she had been a victim of domestic violence during her marriage to the 54-year-old psychiatrist with whom she has three children, Daily Mail reported.
However, talking exclusively to The Express Tribune, Rehman rubbished Reham's claims point by point.
Below is the entire rejoinder issued by Rehman:
Allegation 1: Reham was subjected to domestic violence, which was the main cause of your divorce and your marriage breakdown
“I reject these allegations strongly, this is a lie,” Rehman said sternly.
“I have never lifted hands on anyone nor have I ever been involved in any kind of domestic violence in any shape or form,” he asserted.
“While I was married (to Reham Khan), I always looked after my children and wife very well. I provided every kind of luxury to them and I looked after them in every sense. My ex-wife had every kind of liberty and no restriction of any kind. I am surprised that these allegations were made,” he said.
Allegation 2: The couple's marriage was a horrible experience for Reham.
“We (Reham and I) have lot of common friends in Hull, where we lived together when we were married. They are all very highly intellectual people. They are highly-qualified consultants. Go and ask them – they will vouch for me. Ask them if I ever was unfair and cruel to my children and ex-wife? I don’t know what it is that she describes as a ‘horrible experience’,” the psychiatrist responded.
Allegation 3: Domestic violence a reality during their marriage.
Responding to this question, Rehman said domestic violence is a serious offence and can lead to conviction in the UK.
“I work in a very senior position in NHS and If I was convicted or charged or found involved in domestic violence in any sense then I wouldn't have been able to practice,” he said, refuting claims of conviction.
“The Criminal Record Bureau in this country gives clearance to all doctors every year enabling them to practice. CBR has the full police record of each and every individual who has been convicted. Only those people who are clean and have no criminal record are allowed to practice. I have no criminal record in England, not of any kind,” he asserted.
Terming claims of a journalist that Reham was domestically violated “absurd,” Rehman questioned, “I am asking what this investigation is and where and how it was conducted and I am considering my options.”
Allegation 4: Reham Khan and Imran Khan said after separation, Reham faced difficulties and had to bring up two kids on her own and that you did not pay maintenance.
“Let me explain that it’s not the law of the jungle in the UK. Laws are very strict here. Everyone knows about the divorce settlement law in this country. This settlement is decided by the judge, its not only about financial division of assets of the parties, but also about other needs and requirements, who is earning and who is not. The judge also decides on how many kids there are what are their needs. The amount of the money is decided by the judge not by the individuals and that depends to how many kids are involved and what the income is.”
Further, he continued the child support agency was involved in their case and the job of the CSA is to ensure that fathers pay the maintenance.
“That’s the whole point of CSA. Not paying children maintenance is a criminal offence and I could lose my license to practice for not paying the maintenance and I could have lost my job,” he added.
“Courts can also order to attach your salary with this payment of maintenance if you do not pay the maintenance regularly so there is no way you wouldn't pay for the maintenance of your children. I can confirm that I paid for the maintenance of my children through CSA all along and a substantial amount,” Rehman asserted.
“Of course, you can ask CSA. I have my bank record. She will have the bank record too reflecting these payments. I am a senior doctor in the UK at a responsible position. I have to follow court orders. I have never broken the law. I am a law abiding citizen. I have nothing to answer to.”
Rehman further said despite not wanting to be involved in any controversy, he will defend himself and the truth.
“I have a right to defend myself and I will defend myself to the end. I am a very private person and at this stage, I don’t want to get into any controversy. I don’t wish to engage in any mudslinging. But being a private person doesn't mean that I am a weak person,” he concluded.

@M.Kamran, so which celebrity did she marry in the first place. was her ex a celebrity? was she a celebrity when rehman married her?
@noorbano, thankyou for proving the allegations right that her ex is very upset that she is doing well and is making the family, friends and acquaintances dish up dirt about her.
If Shakespeare was reading this, I think, he would re-write, 'hell hath no fury like an ex husband scorned' !!!
:P
@noorbano: What if it turns out and is proven that both husband and wife were having extramarital affairs? If that's so then they should both be punished for adultery.Aren't there problems enough in Pakistan rather than having such discussions....
Reham Khan is from Buffa an area near Mansehra she is not a pathan but belongs to a mufti family. Her husband who is her cousin divorced her because of her extramarital affair with her nephew. Go to Buffa and her ex in laws will willingly tell you the story.
@amenakiani.Marriage is a contract between two individuals which starts with trust and companionship and blossoms into love blessing the kids which come out of it.If that's not achieved by both then a struggle of rights ensue resulting in divorce.Relating our personal issues to that of Reham and Ijaz is incorrect as both husband and wife don't seem to be the right marriage material. They do seem to follow a celebrity wedding-divorce-remarriage pattern.
@AYESHA. So it is bad if you dish up the real truth on your EX? Maybe Reham feels confident enough to talk about it now. If we believe her EX that all was well in his marriage with Reham, then they should have still been married.
Errr.. The way he has responded allegation by allegation, he must be a psycho Lool! That's so weird! Seriously.
Not a fan of Reham Khan but doctors and law is no guarantee of rights.
My EX is a doctor in UK, a Pediatric consultant. Never paid child support. I didnt reported abuse because it was shameful and embarrassing and I didn't want him kicked out of his job and both of us licked out of the country.
Abuse happens in UK and I believe very high rates among desi households. ask women, dont ask the husband's friends.
@Aamir - Toronto: the ex. should keep quite. avoiding all sorts of controversies, comments, mud slinging. both should prove they are graceful individuals.
Both exes are immediate cousins and seem the same. Both are simply lieing and stating irrelevant facts to save their lost reputation.Dr.Ijaz at least think of the two children from ur second wife. She is no Imran Khan and might become another Reham.Dr.Ijaz should have a no comments attitude.Imran Khan is the idiot of a century who has started a Sunday Paper issue on Pakistani soil.
@Aamir - Toronto: point is journalism and media .. its an era of different forms of media .. what was the point in putting false allegations on a clean person by Reham Khan? to prove herself to be a victim who did not want divorce but had to get it!!! If Reham Khan has the liberty to enjoy interview and answer .. why not this person who has been alleged falsely :) everyone has the right to enjoy his or her married life but not at the cost of other person's respect and repute by telling lies!
Another liar in the family. Imran has got a perfect match.
Birds of a feather flock together. Looks like Imran's wife is as prone o making unsubstaniated allegations as her new husband. The difference is that there is a rule of law in Britain and trust in the law and order system. Her allegations will be easily disproven and she will not get benefit of doubt by simply saying the judiciary is corrupt.
Seems like Reham's husband just exposed her lies. Child support is deducted from the salary and also there are laws that secure against domestic voilence. Maybe Reham is trying paint a soft image and get symphathies. What a shame.
Media is doing the job of "Bi-Jamalo" which is very unethical and wrong.
Though Reham was an anchor person but she failed in hiding her private life when she was asked questions by another person interviewing her.
There is no need to settle the old scores, whatever these may be, after Reham got married with Imran.
The chapter of allegations and counter allegation must be stopped for the sake of peace of minds of Imran and Reham but also of Pakistani nation.
"Bi-Jamalo" would you kindly keep your mouth shut on Reham's private life.
As someone who lives in the UK, I can tell you that this man is telling the truth, as least about child support. Child support payments are deducted from a person's salary at source and these deductions are shown on payslips.
Secondly, why is it that Reham didn't make a report of domestic violence while she was in the UK. She doesn't seem to be a shrinking violet type and these complaints, especially if made by someone who is a public figure, are taken very seriously by the police.
Bravo to ET for giving this guy a chance to defend his reputation in public.
@Aamir - Toronto: She has made some very damaging allegations against him. He deserves the space to clear his name. Why don't you complain about Reham discussing her personal life? That said, I believe domestic violence is an issue of concern to all of us and needs to be discussed in the open. Violence is not a private matter.
Actually this needs to be printed becuase she made some allegations against him and he has a right to be heard.
@Liberal: Read your own comment and see if it fits any rationality.
Good Job ET ... Truth must prevail !
She is an educated person and must have known the laws during her first marriage. It is wrong to blame your ex to justify your divorce and 2nd marriage.
I think ET did a good thing by posting the other side of the story which rarely happens in the media. Let the man defend his character, if someone, his ex-wife, made an allegation against him in Pakistani Media, he has a full right to defend himself. It seems his ex-wife, even after almost 9 years of divorce, has not moved on, and still wants to defame him and hold some sort of grudge against him.
@Liberal: Please search for "Ad hominem" on wikipedia/dictionary. You might understand the fallacy of the argument you make.
Now, Interview Jemima, the Ex In Laws of Both, Qazis, Private Doctors, neighbours, aunts, uncles, school teachers of Kids too !
The posture of her ex-husband explains a lot - seems aggressive and volatile by nature.
ET.....what is the point of publishing this news.
For God sake, let them live their life peacefully.
