"I am concerned about what has happened in that area in Jammu & Kashmir. We have seen loss of lives along the Line of Control. I have suggested and strongly recommended to the [Indian] prime minister and foreign minister that there should be continuing dialogue so this can be resolved as soon as possible," said Ban Ki-Moon regarding frequent cross-border fire in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months.
Tensions have recently been escalating with four Pakistani civilians were killed in ‘unprovoked firing and heavy shelling’ by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in the Zafarwal and Shakargarh sectors along the Sialkot Working Boundary on January 6.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has stated that Pakistan wants a constructive, sustained and result-oriented dialogue with India on all issues of mutual concern. He also made it clear that a dialogue with New Delhi sidestepping the Kashmir dispute was out of the question.

Urm...what about implementing UN Resolutions on Kashmir Mr Moon.
Or are UN Resolutions no longer of interest to the UN?
UN is as good as the league of Nation organization. As good as dead.. it's Stand along the strong and punish the weak .. Very little positive role being played by it
@Mohammad Ali Siddiqui: Could you please confirm what is Pakistan's claim on Kashmir? Was it part of Pakistan that India captured? Do Pakistani realize that this UN resolution on Kashmir is under chapter VI which is non binding and can not be enforced? I don't think that Pakistan can hijack the progress of the south Asia by harping on Kashmir all the time. The region would progress with or without Pakistan.
How come he does not bring the Kashmir problem in the security council and push to the two nations to have plebiscite in the both parts of Kashmir and let the Kashmir people decide their fate. The UN has kept this problem on the back burner for too long and thousands of lives has been lost for the last 2 decades, it should be enough to push him to bring this problem in the forefront in the UN. We had enough of their talk and talk.
With a racist chai-walla incharge of India, dont expect much Mr. Ki-Moon
somebody tell him to shutup.
Ban Ki-Moon statement for Pakistan-India to resume dialogue is just a stereo type statement.
The role of UN to help affected people in the world is positive but UN is helpless in making India understand Pakistan's point of view to include Kashmir in the agenda for resuming dialouge to yield positive and concrete steps for the betterment of two nuclear neighboring countries is ineffective.
