LAHORE:
A marriage hall became a place of mourning when its roof collapsed right in the middle of a ceremony in Shadbagh area, claiming as many as seven lives including that of bride, and causing injuries to 20 other people, here on Tuesday.
The Faizan Dera Banquet Hall in Shadbagh Scheme 2 witnessed the mishap on the very first day after its inauguration on Tuesday, said Edhi spokesperson while talking to The Express Tribune.
He informed that the bride Shumaila’s dead body was recovered while the groom Majid survived the incident but is injured. He furthered that debris is being removed from the site to rule out presence of any others injured under it. The bodies were shifted to Mayo and Kot Khawaja Saeed hospitals. Eye witnesses blamed substandard quality of material used in the construction for the incident.
