MARDAN:

Two officials of the municipal committee were arrested by the anti-corruption department on Monday. The action was taken following a complaint filed by Ali Akbar Khan, a resident of Mardan.

Khan alleged the officials had demanded bribes for the approval of the proposed map of his house. He paid the said amount but marked the banknotes for future identification.

Anti-corruption department officials accompanied by judicial magistrate Aftab Iqbal subsequently raided the municipal committee office and arrested the accused officials, Wisal and Nizaruddin, recovering the marked banknotes from their possession.
