On remand: TTP suspects sent to police custody

Our Correspondent January 10, 2015

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) remanded on Saturday four suspects allegedly belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in an explosives case. The ATC-II sent suspects, Ali Haider, Rashid Iqbal, Anwar Ali and Sultan Ali, to police custody on a 14-day physical remand. The Gulberg police told the court that the suspects were arrested from Water Pump during routine patrolling and an Awan bomb was recovered from their possession. The suspects had affiliations with the banned TTP and they need to determine if they are involved in acts of terror. Approving the plea for remand, the court fixed January 24 as the date for the next hearing. A case was registered against the suspects under Section 4 and 5 of the Explosives Substances Act read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
