Search op: Police arrest 45 suspects, recover kidnapped man

According to Badhaber police, two rifles, one TT pistol and around 30 kilogrammes of hashish were seized.

Around 45 suspects were arrested in a search operation in Sheikhan village, adjacent to the border of Akka Khel, Khyber Agency on Wednesday morning.


According to Badhaber police, two rifles, one TT pistol and around 30 kilogrammes of hashish were seized and a kidnapped man was also recovered during the door-to-door search operation.

A small improvised explosive device was also found by the police and defused by the bomb disposal unit.

A police official said one of the 45 arrested people is an Afghan refugee residing illegally in the area, while the others were being interrogated. “An FIR has been registered against the Afghan refugee, against those who had kidnapped a man over a monetary dispute and those who were arrested with arms and hashish,” said the official. The operation, he said, started around 7am and continued till 11am.
