Plant has the capacity to filter two million gallons per day
MITHI, THARPARKAR:
Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday inaugurated Asia’s biggest reverse osmosis plant in Mithi, Tharparkar.
The plant has the capacity to filter two million gallons per day.
Zardari was accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Sharjeel Inam Memon and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari.
Last week, the chief minister had announced that the Sindh government completed installation of 150 reverse osmosis water filter plants in five talukas of the parched Tharparkar district.
The plant having a capacity to filter two million gallons per day will solve basic problems of drinking water for people of the district.
The chief minister said that under the Rs5 billion schemes, 750 RO plants were being installed in Thar. “This would solve their basic problems of drinking water. Out of 750 RO plants, 150 have been installed,” he said and added that the water filter plant that the Sindh Coal Development Authority has installed near Mithi is the largest in Asia. “The RO plant in Mithi will filter a million gallon of water using solar energy and another million on electricity,” Shah said.
