Low-income housing: Thousands vie for subsidised flats
LAHORE:
Over 60,000 families have applied for flats being constructed under the Aashiana Housing Scheme. 3100 kanals in the vicinity of the Allama Iqbal International Airport, the DHA, Ring Road and Burki Road have been allocated for the construction of 1,000 multi-storey flats under the Aashiana Iqbal Project. The cost incurred will be recovered in installments over 10 years. The government will pay the interest on behalf of the owners. The government will also construct a 150 feet-wide road from Burki Road to the Aashiana Iqbal Project and a truck sewer up to the Charar Drain.
