SUKKUR: The body of a woman identified as Seva Bagri was found dumped in a plastic bag near the Haroon Tunio village situated in the limits of the Bakrani police in Larkana on Thursday.

The woman used to sell clothes by visiting different nearby villages to make ends meet. Seva, the wife of Dewan Bagri and mother of four, had left her house on Thursday morning to sell clothes as per her routine. When she did not show up until evening, her husband and father started looking for her but to no avail. Early Friday morning, some people spotted a suspicious plastic bag in the fields and informed the police.

The police rushed to the spot and found the body of Seva and shifted it to Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana. The family was informed who rushed to the hospital and claimed the body. According to the police, torture marks were visible on the body which meant that she had been tortured before being strangled to death.

The Bakrani police registered an FIR on the complaint of the deceased woman's father, Raju Bagri, against unidentified persons. Arrests have yet to be made.

Bagri Welfare Association, Larkana, general secretary Lachman Das Bagri told The Express Tribune that Seva had four children and used to live in a hut near Yar Mohammad Kalhoro Colony. "When the body was handed over to us after post-mortem, we saw visible torture marks on the body with her eyes and nose bleeding," he said.

He added that Seva's husband was physically challenged and she was the only breadwinner of the family. "We are the vulnerable segment among minorities and nobody, not even the Hindu community, helps us," he said. "I am hopeful that justice will be granted to the poor family."
