High-level huddle: Police chief asks RPOs to visit schools for security

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has directed all regional police officers (RPOs) to visit schools, colleges, hospitals and other sensitive buildings in their respective areas to check security arrangements themselves.

Presiding over a meeting of RPOs at the Central Police Office on Friday, the IGP was briefed about security guidelines for sensitive buildings, verification of criminal records, verification of vehicles, search and strike operation as well as keeping a strict check on hotels and the people staying there. All matters related to the security of the province were reviewed at the meeting.

The IGP directed all DIGs to deploy an inspector or sub-inspector as additional SHO for all urban police stations and provide him with enough policemen.

RPOs were also directed to make sure there is a suitable person as the security in charge of each educational institute. They were also asked to ensure people who have not registered their rented houses and buildings get them registered with the police as soon as possible.
