SUKKUR: The Sindh High Court’s circuit bench in Larkana has ordered the DIG and SSP Larkana to personally monitor the murder case of five-year-old girl, Sindhu, and submit a report on January 15.

After adding anti-terrorism acts to the case, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) has granted police remand of the three accused nominated in the FIR.

Sources said that the SHC bench took suo motu notice of the assault and murder of the five-year-old. The court has summoned DIG Larkana Saeen Rakhio Mirani and SSP Larkana Kamran Nawaz to submit a report.

A few police officers appeared before the court on Thursday and said that anti-terrorism acts had been included in the FIR lodged by the victim’s mother, Begum Khatoon Soomro. The court ordered both officers to personally monitor the case and submit a report on January 15.

The three people accused of the murder, a 14-year-old boy and his uncles, Shoaib Jatoi and Niaz Jatoi, were produced in an ATC on Tuesday. The court remanded them to three days in police custody. SSP Nawaz told The Express Tribune that following Begum Soomro’s request, anti-terrorism acts were included in the FIR and therefore, the case will now be heard by the ATC on January 2.

Begum Soomro claimed that all she wanted was justice for her daughter. Two police constables take turns to stand guard outside her house, she said, adding that the law enforcers neither have a chair nor any cover from the cold.

Sindhu, daughter of the late Hazoor Bux Soomro, had gone to a shop near her house when she went missing. Her mother went to the police to register a missing person report. In the evening, the police received information of a suspicious looking man walking out of an abandoned house. The police reached the house with the girl’s family to investigate and found her body buried under the debris.
