Production: PSM hits 45% capacity utilization

KARACHI: The production of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) is increasing rapidly due to timely steps taken by the management for repair and maintenance work. The capacity utilisation has reached 45% of the total capacity of 1.1 million tons per annum and the mill is striving to cross 50% in January, said a statement issued on Thursday. The Hot Metal Mixer in the Steel Making Department, which is considered an essential part of manufacturing homogenous steel, has been made functional by engineers and technicians of the mill, which had been lying broken for the last four years. Under the supervision of Chief Executive Officer Major General (Retired) Zaheer Ahmed Khan, essential repair and maintenance of the plant has been undertaken which will help achieve production targets.
