KARACHI:

AIG Ghulam Qadir Thebo, the city police chief, has stopped the increments in salaries of 27 SHOs for failing to respond to complainants and avoiding registration of the first investigation reports (FIRs) in their respective police stations.

According to the Karachi police spokesperson, AIG Thebo took the step after receiving online complaints against the SHOs for not registering FIRs. "These police officers [SHOs] will not receive annual increments for the next two years."

The spokesperson revealed that Zaman Town, Sachal, Brigade and Jauhrabad were the among police stations whose SHOs will not be getting increments.

On 27 December, AIG Thebo had inaugurated the online FIR registration cell, where citizens can register their complaints.
