Nabbed: 9 members of robbers’ gang arrested

LAHORE: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested nine members of the Jabru Dacoit gang on Monday and seized Rs800,000, a car, mobile phones and weapons from their possession. Police said the gang was involved in house robberies, snatching cars and motorbikes. The suspects were identified as Zahid, Khurram Butt, Ijaz, Shafiq alias Kaka, Ilyas, Faiz, Shahbaz Farooqi and Mohsin Raza. A CIA team conducted raids in various areas of the city and nabbed the suspects. CIA SP Umer Virk said Butt was an absconder in cases of robbery, murders and encounters with police. “Butt also shot and injured a policeman in Mughalpura,” Virk said. He said during interrogation, all suspects had confessed to robbing dozens of houses, including the house of a lawyer in Nawab Town and the house of Kot Radha Kishan assistant commissioner. DIG Shahzad announced cash and appreciation letters for the team.
