Voted In: Education reporters elect new leaders

LAHORE: The Education Reporters Association (ERA) elected its office bearers for the year 2015-2016 on Saturday. Rab Nawaz Khan was elected president and Hafiz Kashif Daoodi general secretary. Mian Ali Afzal from Nawa-i-Waqt was elected as senior vice president, Sanaullah Nagra from Online vice president, Deeba Mirza from Daily Pakistan vice president (women’s wing), Rashid Manzoor from Nai Baat joint secretary, Mohsin Bilal from Ab Tak information secretary, Usman Ghani from Daily Saadat coordination secretary and Atif Pervaiz from News One secretary finance. Mazhar Iqbal from ARY News will serve as the ERA chairman. Yousaf Abbasi was elected vice chairman. Naseem Qureshi, the election committee chairman, outgoing president Adnan Lodhi, outgoing general secretary Ali Usman and Umar Khalil served as election commissioners. A core committee, headed by Nasim Qureshi and including Umar Khalil, Adnan Lodhi and Ali Usman, was named the association’s watchdog. President-elect Rab Nawaz Khan and general secretary-elect Hafiz Kashif Daoodi said they would work for improvement in education sector reporting.
