HARIPUR:

Four people including a woman and her son were gunned down in two separate villages of Haripur district, police said on Saturday.

Police officials said Muhammad Nawaz, a resident of Jamun village, had recently returned from Greece. They added Nawaz was struggling financially and blamed Mumtaz Ali for it, accusing the latter of black magic.

On Friday evening, Mumtaz barged into Nawaz’s residence and opened fire at him with a 12-bore repeater gun, killing him on the spot. However, Mumtaz was caught by another neighbour Farhad and his mother Nisar Bibi as he was trying to flee. Mumtaz then opened fire at the woman and her son, injuring them severely. They were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Ghazi but bled to death before medical attention could be provided to them, said doctors. Police said the accused was later arrested.

Separately, three brothers allegedly shot dead a man over a minor dispute in Shirawali village of Ghazi tehsil. Police said Raib Dil, 35, son of Muhammad Asghar, was grazing his buffaloes when Rehman, Ayub and Hasan approached the field of Muhammad Rehman and started arguing with Dil. They then brandished pistols and shot Dil, killing him on the spot.
