Schools in Punjab to remain shut until Jan 12

Vacations extended for an additional three days due to security concerns

LAHORE:
The Government of Pakistan on Saturday announced to extend winter vacations until January 12 in governmental institutions of Punjab due to security concerns in the country, Express News reported.

Earlier, the institutions were scheduled to be closed till January 9, 2014.


However, a further extension in holidays is still anticipated to take place.

On December 16, at least 141 people, including 132 children and nine staff members of the Army Public School, were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire due to ineffective security measures in the school.
