Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Asim Bajwa quoted the army chief as saying in the national action plan committee meeting that this is the right time to take "bold decisions".

#COAS in APC:This is the time to take bold decisions and ensure their effective implementation-2/2
— Gen(R) Asim Saleem Bajwa (@AsimBajwaISPR) December 24, 2014
The committee was formed a day after the horrific attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar in which 150 people were killed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during the meeting also said "history would not forgive us if we don't take concrete steps to end the scourge of terrorism in Pakistan."
Leaders met today in Islamabad to discuss the progress made so far in chalking out the national action plan against terrorism.
Correction: An earlier version of this story had incorrectly referred to Maj Gen Asim Bajwa as DG ISI.

@unbelievable: "anti American blather" Dear unbelievable, Good to see you are still on board and emanating your usual drivel. This will probably be our final altercation for 2014. However, moving on, you are partially correct in that US mischief does bother me.. It is obvious to even the simple minded that the US, under instructions from a small Mediterranean country, has recently bombed several countries who were not harming the US into the stone age, and as a result a couple of million people are no longer with us. I look forward to continuing your education in 2015, although I have a bad feeling I will be wasting my time. Happy New Year.
Good words. But I am afraid they would make difference between Good' and bad Taliban.
Implementation is usually the problem in Pakistan. Eliminating terrorism will take at least a decade and this resolve has to stay until that time. That is easier said than done.
We owe it to our next generations to eliminate militancy: Army chief
And Malik Ishaq's services are required.

"Right time to take bold decisions." What does that mean? Gen. Raheel Sharif has built a formidable following among the Pakistanis since his elevation as the army chief. Is he hinting at taking-over, as also favored by MQM?
@Sexton Blake:
Sound like a classic Taliban apologist attitude .. but in your case it's more about anti American blather than anything of substance. No surprise.
You are the man in charge; DO IT!
It seems that at last Pakistan's Army leaders have begun to see the truth of Hillary Clinton's words. Now the next step should be to stop teaching hatred about Hindus and India. Once that happens prosperity will come to all.
There have been so many leadership blunders in Pakistan, over the last 13 years in regard to militancy. It almost seems that Pakistan in cooperation with the US has gone out of its way to be provocative towards militants. Under General Sharif provocation has reached new heights, and militancy has escalated. Apart from following US instruction, what is it about Pakistan, and the sub-continent in general, which seems to generate disparate groups who do not get along with each other? Best of luck for the future Pakistan.
Disagree, Sir you are true and honest Pakistani and want people of Great Pakistan to be happy than STOP spreading Haterate and STOP playing Divide and Rule Game. Do you or anyone have any proof or Evidence????? Please stop spreading lies and Haterate and be honest to these 130+ innocent children and people who lost their precious life because of our haterate. STOP STOP STOP STOP THIS, IF WE DO NOT STOP THIS WE WILL CONTINUE TO INNOCENT PEOPLE GETTING KILLED IN PAKISTAN AND ALL OVER TO WORLD. We all should be careful in what we say, be Honest and Truthful to ourselves and the rest of the world.
Here is why I say this: Yes we the people of India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan killed these innocent children of God. Yes, haterate we have for each other kill these God loving children of Allah. Yes, it our haterate that gave birth to terrorism and feed the terrorists. It is terrorism of haterate that we have in ourselves took lives of these beautiful and talented children. I am sad very sad and very angry with my self and all of us because they lost their life for our haterate. I pray for them, their love ones, and all of us that we never have to see day like this again. In a way I am glad these children are in God's hands other wise we would have turned them into terrorist as well.
I have read the the whole article and all the comments to relieve my anger to find peace in my heart and mind but I am becoming more angry and restless. We have still not learnt our lesson. I did not find anything positive in this whole article or in most comments. We still talk about haterate and blaming other but us.
Root cause of these killing and all other killing is haterate we have in our hearts and mind. The root cause is the negativeness we have and pass from one person to another, one family to another, one friend to another, one neighbor to another, one country to another, and from one generation to next.
AND THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE HATERATE WE HAVE FOR ONE ANOTHER WITH PURE LOVE. TO REPLACE NEGATIVE ENERGY WITH POSITIVE ENERGY. TO REPLACE NEGATIVE THOUGHTS WITH POSITIVE THOUGHTS. TO REPLACE NEGATIVE ACT WITH POSITIVE ACTS. TO REPLACE NEGATIVE WORDS WITH POSITIVE WORDS. TO REPLACE CURSE WITH BLESSINGS AND FORGIVENESS.
KILLING TERRORISTS IS NOT THE ONLY SOLUTION. SOLUTION IS TO KILL TERRORISM WE HAVE IN OURSELVES. REMEMBER CHANGE ALWAYS START WITH YOU/ME. ONLY PEESON YOU CAN CHANGE IS "YOURSELF", SO DO NOT LOOK ANY FURTHER. Like any change this change in our heart and mind will not happen overnight, it take years, generations, and may be centuries like it took us to get freedom but we have to trust almighty and be patient.
Remember we do not have any good leaders to lead us so we have to lead ourselves. Do not worry if other will change or not but we have to make sure we and our will and our desire are strong and trust God because He is only our true Hope and Strength. Dear Brothers and Sisters, Let us all take a deep breath and promise these children that we won't let their sacrifice go in vein. Let us promise them we will change and learn to be more Loving, more Caring, more Positive, more Forgiving, more friendly, more helping, and will work hard and dedicate our life to make this world peaceful and better place to live for the entire mankind.
Let us promise these children we will change and learn to be more respectful, more trustworthy, more dependable, and will value and respect our differences and work towards making this place better place to live for all of us.
Let us promise these children we never kill anybody in name of religion nor we will support such group or people who support this kind of activities.
May their souls rest in peace! God Bless Us!!!
Army is the only functional state institutiion. They can win this battle and drag the sleeping bickering politicians with them.
Finally we got some sensible General. This is all happening because of over incompetent generals like Zia, mushi or Kiyani. They all worsen the situation one way or the other. But our best wishes are with you General. May God bless you and may we win this war started by Zia and turned into cancer in Kiyani's regime.
Please neutralize extremists like Malik Isaq and Hafiz Saeed also as they are equally dangerous to Pakistan. Please smoke our the entire leadership of Afghan Taliban who are sitting in Safe houses in Pakistan. Pakistan will be committing another blunder by protecting such people.
Asim Bajwa is DG ISPR not DG ISI!
All da best general from india. you have to change the DNA of country
Please annihilate every single one of them including their sympathizers, they don't deserve to be alive after they inflicted that horrible horrible tragedy on 12-16-2014.
When ever the country needed you, you responded with your blood and sweat, Pakistan needs you again.
Thank you for all your help. Maybe the politicians are just good for nothing.
Pakistan needs Military courts run by the Brave and not necessarily the courts of the Cowards, political appointees answering to the politicians.
@ModiFied: And he should also send a team of ssg to neutralize Swami Aseemanandd whor murdered Pakistanis in samjohta bombings
As a part of transparency in governance could you care to define Militant and militancy please?
Thank God we have one person with power who feels the pain of the nation living a hellish existence everday. Please save us and our children from the monsters and their cage cleaners.
Good, but does he know that the Mullahs are now thinking of launching demonstrations in Pakistan through their various madrassas to 'Save Islam in Pakistan!' apparently they feel their power is being lost with the increased awareness in Pakistanis of the Maulvis duplicity.
Mullahism is Talibanisation and neither Mullahism or Talibanisation is Islam - please Pakistanis wake up and save Pakistan from these bearded barbarians.
Just when i almost lost all hope on Pakistan, my country of birth, along came this brave man. He's the ray of light, my new hero. Dear Rahil please dont let us down.
