According to sources, Judge Samiullah Qureshi raided the Hepatitis C Centre at Civil Hospital, Mirpur. The medical superintendent, Dr AD Daudpoto, was not present at the hospital at the time of the raid and the medical staff left immediately as they did not want to get into trouble, said an official.
The hospital's staff called the in-charge of the centre, Dr Satiwan Das, who provided the judge with records dating back to 2012. While talking to the media, the judge said that the raid was conducted on orders from the Sindh High Court (SHC) due to complaints of corruption. He added that they had taken the centre's record into their custody and will submit a report to the SHC.
Sources believe that the vaccines that should be used at the centre by their staff are being sold in the market. Those people who came for their vaccinations were told that the centre was out of stock.
Dr Das told The Express Tribune that he had no idea about what was going on. He added that he was not aware that a civil judge had raided the centre as he was busy with patients. The medical superintendent was not available for his comments.
