ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif presided over a high-level civil, military leadership meeting at PM House to review multiple options regarding the country's counter-terrorism plan, while resolving to ensure swift and effective implementation of an approved action plan.
The participants reviewed details the of national action plan to counter terrorism and extremism. A national action plan committee was formed following the Peshawar school massacre.
On December 16, Tehreek-e-Taliban Palkistan militants stormed an army-run school in Peshawar killing 148 people, including 132 chidlren.
According to a statement from the PM House, different short-term and medium-term steps to eliminate terrorism were discussed in the civil-military leadership meeting.
“The participants showed resolve to eliminate terror networks in every nook and corner of the country,” the statement read.
Further, the civil, military leadership vowed to continue the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb launched against militants in North Waziristan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas till the last terrorist is eliminated.
The premier said that he will lead the fight against terrorism whatever the consequences.
“No distinction will be made between those who have committed acts of terror and those who are harbouring, facilitating and financing it,” the premier said.
“National unity is needed to defeat the terrorists,” the premier said.
Further, claiming the blood of ‘martyrs of this war’ will not go in vain, PM Nawaz reiterated, “Extremists and terror ideology will be defeated at any cost.”
Appreciating the sacrifices made by the nation and armed forces in the war on terror, PM Nawaz said, “Sacrifices given by the people of Pakistan including Pakistani forces are unparalleled in this war.”
Further, the participants reviewed the progress in the ongoing operations in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency.
The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, chief of general staff, Director General ISI Lt General Rizwan, DG military intelligence, DG military operation and DG ISPR Asim Bajwa.
According to sources, before the meeting Dar and Nisar apprised the prime minister regarding developments of the parliamentary committee on the national action plan.
Further, sources added army chief General Raheel Sharif briefed the premier about his meeting with Afghan Army Chief Sher Muhammad and ISAF Commander in Afghanistan at the GHQ earlier today.
Another meeting of the parliamentary leaders has been summoned in Islamabad on Wednesday to finalize national counter-terrorism strategy, Radio Pakistan reports.

I am waiting for the trials of people like Rana Sanaullah and others in PML N . Mr. Prime Minister. It is time you show that you are the Sher (lion) of deeds and not just words.
Malik Ishaq and other terrorist who played havoc in Pakistan are free to roam and give speeches in Islamabad and other parts of Punjab. When are you going to implement your plan for getting rid of this cancer from Pakistan.
Maybe you cannot and my suggestion would be to give authority to the Army to take care of this problem as you and your party are part and parcel of what Zia created in Pakistan.
I can't believe a few people here are asking for PM's resignation. They should open their eyes and see who is governing KPK and who is staging dharnas for the past 6 months.
Another speech with no decisive action. I suggest some self reflection is long overdue. Within the last year we have seen the Interior Minister call the Taliban leader Meshud a martyr, the de-factco Foreign Minister imply that terrorist should be tolerated so long as they don't pose a threat to Pakistan, and of the most "decisive action" by this PM was the formation of another worthless committee.
National Security needs improvement. We can learn national Security from Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia all movements between cities are monitored. There are check posts which check individuals and vehicles, leaving and entering a city. Just like the security we already have at the airports. People in Pakistan and particularly children of Pakistan need better security. Closely monitor the staff at these checkpoints that they do don't allow passage freely in order to improve their income.
Political leadership should know the nation is united and national spirit is high. Our leaders should now take those tough decisions that are in the best interests of the nation.
Freeing unrepentant hate mongers like Malik Ishaq and talk of working against militancy at any cost? Looks like the leadership is still in deep slumber. Wake up PM and COAS and look around you.!

Mr.Sharif announced that supporters of terrorism would not be spared. To prove the point, he punched the other Sharif in the face.
And Malik Ishaq freed form jail today. For how long this government will keep making people fool? Enough is Enough.
Statements like these keep on pouring in. I hope and pray that they mean it and take action.

So patiently that even some western govts accused us of playing a double game and some said we are not serious on this war at all. However, our govt tried talking to these monsters but those talks were of no use. Govt and army made treaties with certain groups and factions of TTP and they contniued to break treaties. We asked monsters not to bomb innocent civilians in cities and towns and show some humanity, monsters replied back saying literally all civilians deserve to be killed. Now as a last resort we have to deal with monsters in their own way. This would be justifiable and please don't make analogy with US response right after 9/11. US maintained a line of no talks, no negotiations and started bombing Afghanistan indiscrimantely. Your saying fits very well on to US coz US dealt with a monster by becoming a monster itself. We have to deal with a monster by the way this monsters really understand.
terrorism in any circumstances could not be defeated until ideology of terrorism is not put to death, terrorism ideology needs to be countered by changing the minds of the the peoples not just killing for killing, if some one is killed ideology remains intact and ideology is always bullet proof

In Punjabi there is a quote and i will translate in English that " Dont become a Monster to fight the Monster". All i am saying that this Anti-Terror policy is right but kindly make sure that in a haste we will taking such drastic actions that will not be justifiable afterwards.
