The decision came after the police filed a charge sheet in the court today against the suspects.
On June 8, at least 37 people, including 10 terrorists, were killed after an all-night battle with militants who besieged Karachi airport’s old terminal.
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for what was the first large-scale terrorist attack at the country’s largest airport in years.
A day after the airport attack, around three to four gunmen mounted a fresh attack on a security check post outside the airport. However, no casualties were reported in the second attack.
Earlier in October, four suspects were arrested during raids in different parts of Karachi and were identified as Sarmad Siddiqui, Nadeem alias Burger alias Mullah, Asif Zaheer and Master Essa.
These suspects are allegedly associated with different outfits – al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Harktul Jihad-e-Islami (HJI) – and have had ties with other local and foreign militants groups, police said.
“The arrested suspects used to provide logistical support to the attackers,” explained Crime Investigation Department (CID)’s acting Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Saqib Ismail Memon at a press conference on Tuesday.
Besides supplying weapons, the arrested suspects also provided the attackers with the ASF uniforms, vehicles and accommodation for their stay in Karachi near the airport.
“Not only al Qaeda and TTP but militants of other stripes also played a vital role in the brazen assault,” he said.
He also claimed that the team of al-Qaeda and Taliban was in touch with their cohorts in Balochistan. The entire planning for the attack, he said, was done in that province.

Shame that it took courts and govt murder of 140 innocent people to issue this warrant. Govt is also responsible party. And putting our security forces and civilians lives at risk by their incompetence and soft stance against terrorists.
Normally there is a time frame to file charge sheet as per law . Delay of six months in filing charge sheet gives a wrong signal. Either there is no prima facie evidence or some sort of protection is extended so that they can be exonerated later. OR there is fear of loosing votes/ support and similar interests. it also indicates that there are sympathizers within the government, army, and society with some influence. There is need to amend the existing law or to make new legislations to deal with the barbaric radicals effectively.
OMG! Its really Shocking to know that at least after six months a charge sheet is presented?? Are they waiting for other massacre to happen as govt produce both reports??.
Besides, I am share with you that here, in Malaysia, we do not find any religious leader or person who leads some religious activities; here openly you dont find any sectarian divide, all perform namaz at same place. We have not seen any permanent Mullah in any Surau( Masjid) State is very much vigilant to public and none has right to keep weapon legal or illegal but who so ever found guilty, will face the music but in Pakistani, every body is free to keep as many weapons as one can so how you will maintain peace, order and rule of law.
actually, in Pakistan, the one who is mighty is right though he has done ills in society. therefore, first maintain rule of law then you can prevail peace in the country.
@Wali: I agree with most of your views except that about the media. Its the transparency and ability of the media to give us the gory details about events that we learn of GOP's misdeeds. Under your suggestion the bureaucrats and the politicians will be on the loose even more and God knows what they will do to the country.
It has to be in Sindh, as PTI and PMLN are still reluctant to openly condemn and take action against the TTP. There was not a single parliamentarian of these two parties, that promise to take us to the naya/changed Pakistan, in the protest against Lal Masjid.
Get the Taliban apologist amongst the LEAs and the Rangers. People like Rana Sanaullah who openly support Lashkar e Jhangvi and SSP- now Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat must be put behind bars to explain their involvement in the killing of innocent and their protection of the killers. Maybe once these black sheep are removed from the LEAs it would not take 6 months to file a terrorism case.
After so many days...
charge sheet filed after approx 6 month.
What took them so long to file charges beggars belief. Case filed. Case closed. Carry on as usual.
Seriously.... What have they been waiting for or what new evidence uncovered recently to produce the warrants now. Pakistan needs to correct it's course from top to bottom if it wants to survive as a country majority of the people of this country would want to live in; - media needs to be regulated on what should or shouldn't be shown - pictures on the front and centre of many a paper this morning serve no purpose - Goverment needs to provide legislation to ensure the madrassahs are regulated. Curriculum needs to be fixed and mosque speakers need a control on them. - The military and other law enforcement agencies need to get after aiders and abettors of the terrorism... Not just bombing the tribal areas and let the cancer fester elsewhere. - Judiciary and legal system need to get the right tools and help from the state and be able to provide the just, swift and fair system.
