Metrological Department officials said on Friday dense foggy conditions will continue for a week.
They said on Friday, visibility had been limited to was two kilometres. They said minimum temperature recorded was six degree Celsius. They said rain was expected at the end of the week.
Motorway police SSP Chaudhary Ghulam Jaffar told The Express Tribune that the highways had been shut down due to the fog.
He said vehicles without fog lights were being stopped. He said citizens could call 130 to check weather conditions before travelling. Flights from Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur and Rahimyar Khan have been cancelled. Railway officials said some trains had been delayed by 12 to 14 hours. As many as six people died in two days in fog-related accidents in Okara. As many as 110 accidents were reported across south Punjab to Rescue 1122.
