HYDERABAD:

Qaumi Awami Tehreek president Ayaz Latif Palijo urged the government to punish convicted terrorists as per the court verdict and to make the National Counter Terrorism Authority functional.

A meeting of the nationalist party was held on Wednesday to express grief over the Peshawar incident and to convey condolences to the bereft families. Palijo also asked the government to ban all political and religious parties that support extremism unless they do not openly condemn terrorism. He also reiterated his demand of registering madressahs, redesigning their syllabus, regulating religious congregations and forming a code of conduct for the media to prevent views of extremism from being aired.

Sindh Taraqi Pasand chairperson Dr Qadir Magsi asked the state to wipe out all safe havens of the extremist elements in the country.
