ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday issued an interim order suspending the Election Tribunal’s directive for re-polling elections in Balochistan’s provincial assembly constituency PB-50 Turbat. The petitioner, adviser to CM Akbar Askani informed the three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk that the Balochistan Election Tribunal had ordered re-election in his constituency over the allegations of rigging and low percentage of vote casting. He said that low turnout was due to deteriorated law and order situation in his constituency. He said that his opponent, Akram Baloch of National Party, did not submit a single proof of rigging in the constituency. The court suspended tribunal’s decision and issued notices to Akram Baloch and ECP and adjourned hearing for three weeks.
