Violence in the city: Two wounded in cracker bomb attack

Meanwhile, two suspected criminals were arrested in separate incidents.

KARACHI: At least two people were wounded in a cracker bomb attack in Lyari while two suspected criminals, including an alleged target killer, were arrested by law enforcement agencies in separate incidents in the city on Sunday.

Unidentified armed men hurled a cracker bomb near Mujahid Park in Lyari before fleeing the scene. As a result of the explosion, two men, identified as 22-year-old Younus Baloch, son of Zahid Baloch, and 26-year-old Yasin, son of Dur Muhammad, were injured. They were taken to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for treatment. Police officials claimed that members of Lyari gangs were behind the incident. Further investigation is underway.



Separately, police arrested a suspect during a raid in Zaman Town. The police said that the arrested man, identified as Asif Mawati, had been involved in the targeted killing of Sunni Tehreek worker Nadeem Qadri in June this year and was also nominated in a murder case registered at the Zaman Town police station.

Meanwhile, another alleged criminal was arrested in an injured condition from Super Highway within the limits of Sacchal police station. According to the police, Jalal Khan and his accomplices were trying to loot a Rangers official who was on his way to work in plainclothes.

They added that the law enforcement officials offered resistance, shooting and injuring the accused with his own licenced weapon. Khan's accomplices managed to escape. A case has been registered.
