According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Saryab Imran Qureshi, the IED was planted on a bicycle and parked on the side of the road.
Police, Frontier Corps (FC) and rescue workers rushed to site soon after the incident and cordoned off the area.
The injured were shifted to Provincial Sandeman Hospital Quetta where all were said to be out of danger.
A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) official said that around three kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.
“It is premature to say anything about the possible target of the explosion,” SSP Qureshi told The Express Tribune. However, another police officer revealed that police and FC troops frequently patrol the area and have been targeted by banned Baloch outfits.
However, no group had claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
