RAWALPINDI:

The City Traffic Police (CTP) have banned parking of all kinds of vehicles on Benazir Bhutto Road and alternative routes as construction work of the Metro Bus Service (MBS) project is in its final stages.

The police have also decided to take strict action against encroachers on the relevant roads and warned shopkeepers not to place goods on footpaths and the street, especially during the construction phase.

Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, in a statement, urged citizens to use
Airport Road and Peshawar Road for Islamabad to avoid gridlock, adding that efforts were also being made by the traffic police to regulate traffic on Benazir Bhutto Road but it was impossible to manage the traffic flow without cooperation from the public.

Janbaz said besides an enhanced number of traffic wardens, officials who were performing duties in other areas had also been deployed in the area.
