Blind world cup: India beat Pakistan by five wickets

India reached their target on the fourth ball of the last over for the loss of five wickets

Defending champions Pakistan lost the final of the Blind Cricket World Cup by five wickets to the first time champions India in Capetown, South Africa yesterday.


Pakistan were sent in to bat first and scored 389 runs in 40 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Opener Muhammad Jamil score 102 of 84 balls to top-score for Pakistan with Nisar Ali (56), Muhammad Akram (75) and Anees Javed (50) making useful contributions. Amol Dattatray Karche took two wickets while Ketanbhai Babughai Patel and Deepak bagged one wicket each.


In reply, India reached their target on the fourth ball of the last over for the loss of five wickets. Prakasha Jayaramaiah was the highest scorer with 82 runs while Ajay Reddy (74) and Ketanbhai Babughai Patel (76) helped the team reach the target with their contributions.

Hard luck Pakistan. Unfortunately, South Africa did issue visas to India unlike if the tournament had been held in Pakistan!
