KARAK: Nearly 10 people, including two police personnel, were injured on Sunday in Karak district when a scuffle broke out between police and Khattak Ittehad activists. The latter were protesting against low gas pressure and power outages outside a gas service meter station near Jail Chowk. Police resorted to aerial firing and tear-gas to disperse the protesters. Meanwhile, the Khattak Ittehad activists retaliated by pelting stones at the police. According to eyewitnesses, they took control of the station and a police vehicle. The protesters damaged the electricity line to the station and closed the main valve of gas transmission. They also closed the Indus Highway for five hours.
