ISLAMABAD:
People who face displacement in the lead-up to the construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam have called upon the federal authorities to pay them a revised rate of compensation in addition to fulfilling all its earlier commitments. The victims of the proposed dam - banded together in a committee - have presented a charter of demands to the federal government. They are pressing for a higher rate of compensation for their lands, which they surrendered to the government so that the mega project could be built there. The dam has a capacity to produce 4,500MW of electricity.
