An alleged robber was killed while two police personnel, including an SHO, were injured during an encounter with a gang of robbers near Ghumro police post in Sukkur on Wednesday.


A large contingent of police, led by Airport police station SHO Ali Bux Shar raided and cordoned off the katcha area near Ghumro police post, after they received information of the presence of wanted criminals in the area. The robbers initially opened fire at the personnel. In the retaliatory fire by the police, one of the suspects was killed.


Meanwhile, SHO Ali Bux Shar and police constable Gulshan Mangi sustained bullet wounds and were rushed to Civil Hospital, Sukkur, where their condition was said to stable. On receiving information of the encounter, Sukkur SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio rushed to the site with reinforcements and took charge of the scene. Police officials claim the dacoits are hiding in the dense forest and it is therefore difficult to locate them.
