QUETTA:

A senior government official narrowly escaped a roadside bomb attack near Joint Road on Tuesday. “Raza Muhammad Badech, adviser to the Balochistan chief minister on education, was travelling in his vehicle when unknown men remotely detonated a roadside bomb near his four-wheeler,” said SSP Operations Aetizaz Goraya.

Badech’s vehicle was damaged in the blast, leaving him and his driver injured. “Badech received bruises on his hand from the glass of the windows of his vehicle that was shattered by the thud of the explosion,” Goraya said, adding that fatalities were reported.

Police and security forces threw a security cordon around the bombsite as investigators started sifting through the rubble for clues. Police said it was an improvised explosive device weighing around one pound.
