38,000 bags recovered in sugar mill raids

Recove­red stock handed over to the food depart­ment which will set up stalls in variou­s areas of the city.

JARANWALA:

A district administration team, headed by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Faisalabad carried out raids at sugar mills in Jaranwala, Faislabad and seized 38,000 bags of sugar.


The recovered stock has been handed over to the food department, which will set up stalls in various areas of the city.


Earlier this month, Director General of the Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) Waseem Ahmed had announced that action will be taken against sugar hoarders, while he spoke to the media along with Interior Minister Rehman Malik about anti-corruption measures taken against government departments.


Meanwhile, the hearing of the sugar price hike case has been adjourned in the Lahore High Court till next week. The court has sought a written explanation from the government regarding the issue.
