@Moiz Omar: Yes Sir, he still has to pay that symbolic fine or jail term. Contempt of court applies serious consequences and remember a few years ago Prime Minister Gilani was punished with one minute imprisonment that served right in the court and with that he is considered criminal and will not be able to contest any elections for ever. In Western countries wrong reporting or contempt carry both civil and criminal punishments that go into millions of $$$ although if reporter apologises ans take back his statement is normally forgiven.
@AnisAqeel: He still has to pay the fine or go to jail for a time.
@Moiz Omar: It was a contempt of court and a symbolic punishment just to show dislike of his criticism.
@AnisAqeel: The Bengali Genocide in 1971 did happen, but I don't think people should be prosecuted for doubting it.
@Dq: Both the Holocaust and the Bengali Genocide were horrible and many people tragically died, but I don't think people should be prosecuted for doubting numbers.
@Moiz Omar: What kind of freedom of speech?! Did he struggle to speak out and fought for the Bengalis Holocaust, if not then he is denying the fact of tens of thousands or three millions brutal deaths. Is he having the false courage to deny Holocaust of Jews in his own country, I guess Westerners will tear him apart on that lie.
@Dq: Of course Holocaust is a touchy subject but it has been disputed by brave authors and the numbers killed have been disputed. Even President Abbas has doubted it. Holocaust, genocide and ethnic cleansing are abominable crimes against humanity.Where does one begin and the other start?
@Moiz Omar: Please try questioning holocaust in the West and then you will know what freedom of speech is...
Violation of freedom of speech by the Bangladeshi court.
